Where exactly is Windsor castle located?

Located just a short train ride from London, Windsor Castle is easily accessible taking just over an hour from Paddington station, making it an ideal day trip for those exploring the U.K from the capital. To get our full royal fix, we took the train from central London to Windsor Castle on the new Elizabeth underground line (the purple one). Getting off at Slough we then took the number eight bus seven stops (around 20 minute bus journey in total).

What is worth seeing at Windsor Castle?

We think there are four main attractions that are worth seeing at Windsor Castle. We made a brief list of them here.

Unfortunately not, entrance to Windsor Castle is not free, you will need to purchase tickets. We booked our tickets through Viator.

How long does it take to walk around Windsor Castle?

The time it takes to walk around Windsor Castle can vary depending on the pace of your visit and whether you participate in guided tours or visit specific exhibitions. We spent a leisurely self-guided tour covering the State Apartments, St. George’s Chapel, The Queen’s Gallery, and the castle grounds taking us approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Where else in the U.K should I visit similar to Windsor?
