Yes Birmingham airport is open 24 hours, so you will be able to stay at the airport if you need to before or after you flight.

Compared to southern U.K airports Birmingham airport is close the city, around 7 miles and only 9 miles away from Coventry serving both these cities.
What is the best time to arrive at Birmingham airport to sleep?
If you are planning to sleep at Birmingham airport before an early morning flight then best to arrive around 11pm just after the last train. This will then allow you to grab a spot to lay down and get comfortable. By arriving later at the airport you will avoid the evening crowds and have less time to lie down on the floor. There is no official non sleep policy at Birmingham airport unlike others in the U.K. which employ staff to rouse sleepers every 30 minutes. When we slept at Birmingham airport no one bothered us the entire time. A recent Mirror article rated each U.K airport about the comfort level at each to sleep.
Is there anywhere particular I should sleep at Birmingham airport?

For most of the year Birmingham airport will be a cold place to sleep. Consider bringing a light sleeping bag if possible. If you don’t have space for one then heavy sweater and hat are needed. This area can also be quite bright so an eye mask may also be useful.

Important not to confuse the two, Birmingham airport also known as Birmingham International with airport code BHX is located south near the city of Birmingham. East Midlands airport has the airport code EMA and is located to the south west of Nottingham. EMA airport is noticeably smaller than Birmingham airport.
What’s the earliest I can go through security?
The earliest you’ll be allowed through security is three hours before the flight.

Birmingham has the world famous Cadbury factory available to visit for tours as well as numerous sports ground and teams for stadium tours. If you have more time then consider visiting the Cotswolds region just outside Birmingham for a amazing day out.
