Can you sleep at JFK airport overnight?

Yes you can sleep at JFK airport in the area before security. JFK is not the most modern airport so the seating and lighting there are not the most comfortable. Consider taking a eye mask to block out the lights and headphones to mask the noise.

Can you sleep inside JFK airport?

As mentioned above you will have access to the inside of the airport at all hours. That doesn’t mean it won’t be cold as the space is cavernous. Temperatures in NYC average 2C in winter but frequently drop this, so if you are planning on sleeping at JFK in winter take warm clothing including a woolly hat.

Yes it is safe. However be aware of your belonging especially if you plan to fall asleep, secure with a padlock or hold them close.

JFK is considered a large airport with 5 terminals and 130 gates. However it no longer appears in the top 10 largest airports with the rise of super sized airports in Asia and the Middle East. However its size makes it an easy airport to sleep in for a short time as it is busy at all hours with many passengers.

JFK has no designated sleeping rooms. If you are looking to sleep while spending the night at JFK then sleeping pods could be your answer which are mentioned in this article or a nearby hotel.

Does JFK have sleeping pods?

In Terminal 4, Minute Suites offer pod like experience to rest. Passengers however must have a boarding pass with the same day as their flight. JFK to Manhattan takes around 30-60 minutes depending on traffic. Public transport in NYC can be very slow. The quickest way to do it is through a private airport transfer service. Book your tickets in advance here.
