WHERE TO STAY IN CYPRUS FOR COUPLES.
The best place for you to stay in Cyprus, will depend wholly on how you like to spend your days and nights when on holiday.
We’ve put together this short guide to help you and your partner decide where to stay in Cyprus.
Just a heads up, we’ve also written a detailed guide to exploring the island of Cyprus here – in this guide you can find itineraries for 5, 7, 10 and 14 days.
However, if you’d prefer to pick one place to stay for your visit for Cyprus, here’s our short guide on where stay in Cyprus for every couple. What type of couple are you?
The Beach Club Couple: Ayia Napa

Activities: Beach clubs and boat parties
Nightlife: The louder the better
Budget: Blow out
Where to stay in Ayia Napa

We would recommend picking a central location to get easy access to bars, restaurants and beaches. But perhaps avoid being too close to the noise of bar street!
Here are some suggestions.
MID RANGE: New Famagusta Hotel offers a giant swimming pool, central location and spacious rooms. It is also 400m from the beach.
LUXURY: Grecian Bay Hotel is an upscale accommodation, with three swimming pools and lovely grounds. Plus a central location and beach access.
The culture cravers: Limassol

Activities: Relaxed beaches & historic sites interspersed with coffee
Nightlife: Chilled with a side of hipster
Budget: Restrained
Limassol was our favourite destination during our month-long visit to Cyprus. We think it’s a great place for couples to choose – particularly anyone looking for a laid-back, local and unpretentious city with great beaches nearby.

Where to stay in Limassol for couples
Here are some choices for the best accommodation in Limassol.
BUDGET: For budget travellers, there are a few hostels in Limassol. Retro Hostel is one of the better located, close to the old town.
OLD TOWN:
The Old Town has a number of Airbnbs as well as hotels. Consider Alinea Primo Hotel with a roof top pool and central location. Alternatively, this boutique hotel offers location in a converted old mansion.
We stayed in a studio in the heart of the Old Town. We loved the design touches here and the price was very reasonable.
BEACHFRONT:
There are a number of hotels along the beachfront to choose from. Consider somewhere like NYX Hotel, which has an epic swimming pool with sea views. Breakfast is also included in the room rate.
The city lovers: Nicosia

Activities: Museums, culture and long lunches
Nightlife: Civilized and foodie
Budget: Middling
Nicosia is the bustling capital of Cyprus. You’ll enjoy staying in Nicosia if you enjoy museums, restaurants and a city with a few rough edges.
We wouldn’t recommend staying in Nicosia for more than 2-3 nights but you can combine a stay here with a few nights in one of the beach resorts, or the Troodos Mountains.

Where to stay in Nicosia for couples
Although Nicosia is now a big city, it is best to situate yourself close to the centre. Here are a few choices:
BUDGET: TasEV Guesthouse is a great example of a low-key guesthouse with budget prices, but a more boutique style. There’s a coffee shop downstairs, ideal for your morning cup.
MID-RANGE: Sofouli Suites are a centrally located mid-range accommodation offering in Nicosia. Rooms are spacious and close to the centre of the city.
LUXURY: MAP Boutique Hotel is a luxurious and chic hotel with a comparatively reasonable price point. Guests love the decor, size of rooms and central location.
The intrepid couple: Troodos Mountains

Activities: Exploring, hiking & wine tasting
Nightlife: Meze with wine
Budget: Can stretch
The Troodos Mountains in the centre of Cyprus are the capital of rural culture on the island. They offer chances to visit beautiful waterfalls, quaint villages and friendly wineries. You can find our guide to the Troodos Mountains here.

Omodos: A bustling village
If you have only a few days, I would recommend Omodos as a great base – a more bustling area, with more to see and do than smaller villages.

I’m not sure what could be more idyllic than staying in a genuine village home in Omodos. Kassandras Place, is just that. With mountain views and a central village location, you’re bound to feel a sense of escapism here.
There are also similar village houses available for up to five guests on booking.com.
Rural Options

If you’d prefer to stay somewhere even more rural, here are a few choices:
MID-RANGE: The wine house (pictured above) is a small property in Pano Panagia, a village 30km north of Paphos in the foothills of Troodos. The terrace is the standout feature of this property, as well as being a stones throw away from a vineyard.
LUXURY: There are a handful of gorgeous rural villas available in and around the Troodos Mountains. Like this 6 person house with an incredible veranda in Platres village.

Alternatively, a few luxury hotels can be found in the Troodos Mountains area. One such example is Casale Panayiotis which has a spa, swimming pool and terraces shaded by vines.
The easy-life couple: Paphos

Activities: Chilling by the pool, beaches and a few day trips
Nightlife: Sociable bars and restaurants
Budget: Sensible
Paphos offers an easy holiday for fun loving couples. As there’s an international airport in Paphos you can disembark from the airplane and be in resort quickly.
Paphos is a relaxed resort with everything on your door step. Plus there are chances for excellent day trips from Paphos – more about that here.

Where to stay in Paphos for couples
We would recommend staying near to Kato Paphos to be close to the harbour and the bulk of the restaurants.
BUDGET: Cystrallo Apartments is a typical budget apartment block close to Kato Paphos available for around 50 Euros per night. There are many similar apartments with pools available on Airbnb too.
MID-RANGE: For mid-range accommodation, Paphos has plenty of choice. The Regency Boutique Hotel is a new building with smart features, close to the harbour. Alternatively, this apartment is a more relaxed option.
LUXURY: Alexander the Great is a large hotel with many swimming pools and what we think is one of the best locations. It is close to the water and only 10 minutes away from the harbour – but far enough to feel relaxed.
The couple with a baby: Protaras

Activities: Hotel pool, beach and napping
Nightlife: Family friendly
Budget: Middling
Protaras, to the east of Cyprus, is an ideal location for a couple with a small baby or child. The beaches are easy to get to, hotels and restaurants family friendly and the town has an easy layout for pushchairs. Plus, you can be in Ayia Napa in around 20 minutes if you’d like a bit more nightlife or a change of scene.
You can find more about Protaras in our Cyprus itinerary guide here.

Where to stay in Protaras for couples
Here are three choices in Protaras, all of these offer family friendly rooms.
BUDGET: Budget travellers may wish to consider hotel apartments in Protaras which offer self-catering facilities. Sweet Memories is an example of this, spacious apartments with a shared pool.
MID-RANGE: Kapetanios Bay Hotel is a 3 star family friendly hotel with a pool. It is close to the beach and to restaurants and bars on the strip.
LUXURY: Capo Bay Hotel is as beachfront as you can possibly get. This hotel offers a super location near to restaurants and bars as well as the sea. There’s a kids-club and a swimming pool for little ones.
