Just landed at Palermo airport Sicily and want to go to Palermo city center? It is an easy journey to make. Here is a no nonsense guide how to get from Palermo airport Sicily to Palermo city center.
Take the bus to Palermo city centre
The bus takes 50 minutes from Palermo airport to the city center. When we took it the price was 6 euros per person and payment can also be made by card. Buses are clean and comfortable. Tickets can be bought just outside the bus. To find where the bus departs, go outside the airport straight ahead as you arrive and turn right. Walk another 80 meters ahead and you’ll see all the buses parked up, it should take no more than 1 or 2 minutes to reach it.
Take the train to Palermo city center
The train to Palermo city center is also available but these only leave every hour. Price is around the same at 6.80 euros. Navigating to the train station is easy enough with signs in the airport easy to see.
Is it worth getting a taxi from Palermo airport to the center?
If you are in a larger group then a taxi is perhaps worth taking for speed. A taxi from Palermo airport to the center of Palermo will cost around 50-60 euros. There is also an option for a shared taxi available next to the buses. The taxi driver will usher you in to his large taxi with other customers until the taxi is full enough. As the buses seemed quick and efficient we didn’t choose this option but it was good to have.
Where is Palermo airport in relation to Palermo city center?
Palermo airport is 35km to the north west of Palermo city center and takes around 50 minutes by bus when there is no traffic. Or around 30 minutes by taxi, either way it is a convenient airport to get of quickly and enjoy your trip.
