Q1. Why choose a planning service to walk a long-distance walk?

PLANNING AHEAD MEANS YOU’RE MORE LIKELY TO DO IT
Research shows that when we make a plan, we are more likely to follow through with it. How many of you have said that you want to walk the Camino de Santiago in your lifetime? Yet, it’s possible that years have gone by and you haven’t done it. Make the plan (or better yet, let us make it for you) and you can make it happen this year!

TAKE THE STRESS AWAY
You’re going to have lots to do in the run up to your trip – packing, training and putting your out of office on for a start. The last thing you need is to have to plan your entire route – instead, get someone to plan for you and relax.

GET THE MOST FROM YOUR TRIP
When you’ve finished a day of walking, the last thing you will want to do is plan the next few days. Trust us. We’ve done it many times. Instead, use your free time to journal, rest, socialise, drink wine and indulge! You will have earned it.

IT’s MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER TO PLAN YOUR ROUTE
2024 was the busiest year yet on the Camino de Santiago and walking is more popular than ever. It’s so great that more people are choosing to walk the amazing long-distance paths in Europe, but with more people, comes a bit of a race for beds. It’s more important than ever to have a plan for your journey.

Q2. Isn’t it possible to walk these routes without planning?

Yes! You absolutely can walk the Camino, the Via Francigena and more without using a planning service. But, having someone else do the planning for you takes the stress away and helps to make the most of your trip.

Q3. What can Lotus Eaters Travel offer that others can’t?

We are passionate walkers and have walked all of the routes that we make itineraries for in the last two years. This means we have current and in depth knowledge. We are also a professional team and a small business – delivering a high quality of service really matters to us. Above all else, we want to share our love of walking with you.

Q4. What exactly will I receive?

We offer two packages, the essential and the platinum. Both are bespoke and personalised to you.

Our essential package includes:

– A bespoke itinerary for your chosen route
– Recommended accommodation for you based on your requirements

Our platinum package includes:

– Bespoke itinerary for your chosen route
– A detailed daily stages guide (highlighting amenities and information about the day)
– Recommended accommodation for your based on your requirements
– Information on cultural landmarks
– Recommended culinary highlights on route
– An e.book to help you prepare for the route
– A personalised packing list

Q5. Is this the same as a tour?

The service we offer is slightly different from a tour – we won’t be walking with you and we don’t get involved with on the ground logistics. We do however give you all the information you need for your trip and we charge much less than the cost of a tour!

Q6. Can I have my accommodation arranged for me?

Our standard itinerary planning service will include recommended accommodation. For each daily stage, we will aim to recommend at least one hotel, albergue or B&B. We will provide links our contact details for accommodation, making it really easy for you to arrange it yourself!

Q7. What are the prices of each service?

We offer two types of package, the essential and the platinum.

For the essential package, we charge $99 for itineraries up to 7 days, $119 for 7 to 14 days and $139 for 14 days plus.

For the platinum package, for itineraries of up to 7 days, we charge $199, for itineraries of 7 to 14 days we charge $299. For itineraries of 14 days plus, we charge $399.

Consultation calls are charged at $50.

Q8. Why are the packages different prices?

The packages are different prices based on how many days you plan to walk. We charge more for the longer walks, because they are more complex to plan and it takes us longer to create your perfect itinerary.

We also differentiate between the standard planning package and the platinum one as the latter takes us longer to prepare and you receive a much more detailed and comprehensive product.

Q9. What do I get in a consultation call? What’s the difference between completing the form and a call?

A consultation call is a 30 minute video call with one of our travel planning experts. This can be scheduled in your own time. If you’re not sure which route you want to take, how far you want to walk each day or when you want to travel – then a consultation can help you to work these things out. The call is “no obligation” so if you don’t want to go ahead with our itinerary planning service after the call, you don’t have to.

Our intake form is also designed to get as much information as possible to help us create the perfect itinerary for you – so if you don’t want to have a consultation call – you don’t have to!

Q10. When do I pay for my bespoke itinerary?

Step One is to complete an intake form, once this is complete we will contact you to discuss your individual requirements. Should you wish to go ahead, you will be directed to our shop where you can pay for your itinerary.

If you think you would benefit more from a consultation call, you can go straight to our shop and arrange a call. After the call, there is no obligation to pay for an itinerary if you don’t want to.

Q11. How quickly will I receive my itinerary?

You will normally receive an outline proposal first, then your full itinerary within 14 days of payment, or within 14 days of your consultation call and subsequent payment. Should we have any further questions for you after you have completed your intake form/ consultation, we will email you and would appreciate a prompt response to avoid delays.

Q12. What do I do if I’m not happy with the service?


We tailor make every itinerary and work hard to make sure that we provide the best service. Once you receive your itinerary, please let us know if you want to make any changes (subject to terms and conditions). You have 14 days after receiving it to make requests. If after this time, you are unhappy – please write to us to explain why and we will seek to assist you. Please note, we cannot refund the cost of a video consultation.

Q13. Can we make any itinerary work?

Generally, we can tailor make walking itineraries based on your requirements – however few or many kilometers you want to walk .There may be occasions when the itinerary you request is not feasible, or we do not recommend walking it at the time of year you have specified – in which case, we will get in touch with you to try to find a solution.

Q14. What are the terms and conditions of purchasing our planning and concierge service?

Once you receive your itinerary, you will have 14 days in which to request small changes to the plan (e.g. one or two daily stops to be changed). We reserve the right to refuse to make significant changes to your plan should your requirements change from those initially provided in the enquiry form/ consultation call (e.g. changes to the distances you plan to walk, change to the route you wish to walk, or changes to schedule for more than two days.)

If you are not happy with the product you receive please contact us within 14 days of receiving it and clearly explain your concerns so that we can help address them.

Our itineraries are bespoke and we spend time researching in meticulous detail, however, we accept no liability for errors and omissions that result in you taking a specific action after purchasing our product. Nor do we accept any liability for closures of walking routes, your safety on route or anything beyond our control.

We are not a tour company and as such, we will not be on the ground to assist you. Nor will we be available with 24/7 support. We recommend that you seek medical advice for your walk and seek suitable travel insurance. We do not provide emergency support, medical assistance or anything else during your trip.

As a concierge/ travel consultant, we will provide you with our best advice, and any action you take as a result of this is your responsibility.
