Can you drink alcohol in Jordan in general?

Yes, but it’s restricted to certain places. Some part of the country are very dry while other part of the country it will be much easier. We have written an extensive article here if you are looking for more information about drinking in Jordan in general.

Can you drink outside hotels in Amman?

Yes, you can absolutely drink outside the hotels in Amman and you’d be missing out if you didn’t try a few. We have found the best bars in Amman down below.

Where can you drink in Amman?

Almost all the nightlife that’s worth knowing about in Amman is located in the Rainbow Street. It can be reached by a 20 minute walk from downtown Amman, however it is a steep uphill walk. This epic street extends from Jabal Amman 1st circle across to Khirfan Street. Around 400 meters in total. The bars along this street are almost always accessed by stairs to higher floors, so look up! You will not be able to see anyone drinking from street level. In general the best nightlife in Amman can be found on Rainbow Street and the surrounding lanes.

Best rooftop bars in Amman

  1. Head to C.LING rooftop. This bar has amazing views of the city with a large terrace. The prices are not the cheapest and we went for one drink to soak up the atmosphere. Highly recommend the gin and basil drink. Confusingly C.ling is also called the Cellar Pub, both found in the same place.

2. Sekrab, located at the western end of Rainbow street is a quirky bar built with junk cars. It has a great roof terrace with view over Amman, however it is closed during the winter. Staff were kind and friendly, the place place had a great casual vibe. Happy hour runs from 5pm to 8pm everyday. This bar is one of the best places to drink in Amman Jordan with a rooftop.

Best shisha bar in Amman?

There is only friendly vibes at Amman Hookah. Nice clean seating in an inviting environment. Both male and female welcome. Open everyday from 12-12.

Best chilled out bar in Amman

Want to drink away from the crowds on Rainbow street? The we highly recommend The Corner Pub. This understated street level bar/pub has a cool crowd and sleek interior. If you are travelling solo you can prop yourself at the bar and relax. Has live music some night and prices are not unreasonable. We think this is one the best places to drink in Amman Jordan and probably our favourite place in the whole of Amman for a tipple.

Best beer and burger bar in Amman?

Sight seeing is hungry work! So if you are looking for a massively tasty burger and great beers look no further than Tipsy Cow. The owner is also the head chef and the food feels authentic. Located just off Rainbow street on the western end. The google reviews for this place say it all!

Best bar for sports and afternoon drinking

Located in the second circle Brix Pub is a good spot for afternoon drinks. You enter through a large gate into a spacious courtyard with picnic tables. There is a happy hour all the way from 12 noon to take advantage of. And 20% off food to boot. Staff are not the most attentive but easy going.

Is alcohol cheap in Amman?

Alcohol is not cheap in Amman. In fact it’s rather on the pricey side. So if you are considering a stag/buck’s party to Jordan you may want to look at our guide here. A pint in a bar on Rainbow street will cost around $11 and a bottle of wine will cost around $45. Prefer to buy your alcohol from a supermarket in Amman? The you’ll need to head to a special liquor store. These are few and far between but there is one located on Rainbow street. A can of local beer costs around $3 and a bottle of wine will cost $15. Are the bars in Amman safe for solo female travellers?

Rainbow street where almost all the bars are contained is always bustling with people. The walk up from downtown to Rainbow street had a few dark unlit streets. It would be wise to keep your wits about you for this part. E wrote an article on female safety based on her travel experiences.
