The winery hotel that we stayed at and loved in Uco Valley is La Morada Lodge.
Can you stay at a vineyard in Mendoza?
Yes! You can stay in a vineyard in Mendoza. If you’re travelling to this fabulous Argentinian wine region, then staying in a winery hotel is one of the best experiences you could have here.
There are a handful of boutique winery hotels in the heart of the beautiful Uco Valley. The Uco Valley is one of the three wine regions of Mendoza and (we think) the prettiest.
You can find our review of La Morada Lodge, a fabulous winery hotel in the Uco Valley below.
We’ve also recommended some more fabulous winery hotels in Mendoza to suit different budgets and preferences. Check out the list below!
Our experience staying at La Morada Lodge, Uco Valley

When we decided to travel to Mendoza, I immediately pictured myself wearing a pretty dress surrounded by vines, sipping the best Malbec that the world has to offer.
My ultimate dream was to spend the night in a winery in a beautiful boutique hotel with a restaurant. That’s how I came to find La Morada Lodge – a small boutique hotel with a restaurant in the Uco Valley.
An afternoon well spent
We arrived to La Morada lodge at around midday, a little early to check in, but were able to park up our hire car for the evening at a safe spot in the grounds of the hotel. The hotel staff offered us a table at the restaurant, but as we were keen to explore the area, we set off on foot through the vines to see what we could find.

A short walk away, we found The Vines of Mendoza complex. A private area with a number of wineries and restaurants that are open to the public to visit. We quickly located La Ropa Restaurant which has been built recently to showcase the wines of La Viglia vineyard.

We settled into a table on the garden terrace for a bottle of La Viglia’s fabulous Sauvignon Blanc. Prior to travelling to Mendoza, I had expected to only find strong Malbec’s – the type that feel like a punch in the face, albeit a pleasant one.
The delicate and fresh white being served at La Viglia surprised and delighted us. A few hours passed merrily with wine and one of the prettiest cheese boards that I have ever seen.
La Morada Lodge also offers bicycles for guests to use for free. There are a number of other wineries in the vicinity that would be easy to cycle to, should you wish to set off to explore the wineries in the valley.
A tiny house in the Uco Valley
We had booked one of La Morada Lodge’s ‘Tiny Houses.’ So called because they come complete with a little kitchen area, a lounge, bathroom, well appointed bedroom and a private terrace.
The design is clever, with sliding doors, built in wardrobes and space for all the mod-cons. It had everything one could need, including a large screen tv with streaming services (allowing us to binge a few episodes of One Day), air-con set to the perfect temperature, fast WiFi, an espresso machine and a wine fridge.

The cherry on the cake was finding that we had a hot tub on our terrace – somewhere to relax, unwind (drink some more wine) and listen to the sound of silence. Luxury touches – like the wooden hot tub, the delicately fragranced toiletries, fluffy towels and exceptional cotton sheets – made our stay at La Morada Lodge feel utterly fabulous.

Dining and wining at La Morada Lodge
One of the draws of staying in a vineyard in Mendoza, is of course the opportunity to walk in the vines. On our way to the restaurant, we took a stroll through the grounds – watching the sunset on the Andes Mountains.

The second draw of staying in a vineyard in Mendoza, is drinking the wine! We had reserved a table at La Morada Lodge’s Hornero Restaurant. A modern and spacious dining room, with a fully stocked bar.
The menu was eclectic, with some Asian fusion influences. We were treated to the finest Argentinean ingredients mainly cooked in wood embers. The beef dish stole the show, matched with a delightful bottle of red from La Morada’s extensive wine list.

Dining along side us were many couples, one Argentinean couple celebrating a wedding anniversary, an American couple on a vacation and others on a baby-moon. A stay at a vineyard in Mendoza is a wonderful place for romance.
The fire-pit was lit in the garden for anyone wishing to enjoy a glass or two under the stars. Our luck seemed to be running out a little when it started raining. But we were soon back in our room, able to batten down the hatches and enjoy watching the lightening storm high above the mountains.
A coffee with a view

In the morning, we woke to find that the clouds had cleared and the view out of our window to The Andes was nothing short of spectacular. I didn’t want to leave the comfort of my bed, but for the draw of enjoying my espresso on the sofa with the scenery before me.
La Morada Lodge offers tennis courts for guests to use. Feeling a little guilty for all the wine and cheese we had consumed, we spent some time knocking some tennis balls back and forth working up an appetite for breakfast. Lucky we did, as we were soon feasting on four courses of fruit, eggs, salmon, croissants and more.

There was time for a quick dip in the pool after breakfast before it was time to check out. With heavy hearts, but feeling completely refreshed, we hit the road. Vowing to return to the Uco Valley soon!
